Dr. Sophia Lee is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, with expertise in hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, and a broad range of general surgical conditions. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College before receiving her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed her general surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery, where she received the Best Fellow Award in recognition of her clinical excellence and surgical expertise.

Through her advanced fellowship training and extensive surgical experience, Dr. Lee has developed specialized expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques. She is committed to offering patients the benefits of advanced minimally invasive surgery, including smaller incisions, reduced postoperative discomfort, and faster recovery whenever appropriate.

Her areas of expertise include inguinal, umbilical, incisional, and hiatal hernia repair; anti-reflux surgery; gallbladder surgery; and procedures involving the solid organs and colon. She combines advanced surgical techniques with an individualized approach to ensure that each patient receives thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to their specific needs.

Dr. Lee has been recognized as a Surgeon of Excellence in Hernia Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation and a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association. These distinctions reflect her commitment to surgical quality, technical excellence, and the advancement of minimally invasive surgical care.

Beyond her surgical practice, Dr. Lee believes that excellent patient care begins with listening, compassion, and clear communication. She strives to make every patient feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their surgical journey.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lee enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, hiking, rock climbing and spending quality time with her family
