In this video we use both LINX animation as well as actual surgical footage so that patients can understand how the device works better than they could before.
In the beginning, we describe with animation why reflux occurs as well as how the LINX surgery works to stop reflux. Using magnetic beads placed around the LES, food and liquids can easily pass into the stomach when swallowed, but stomach acid, bile, and digestive enzymes are stopped from from refluxing back into the esophagus.
Following the animation, actual surgical footage is shown performed by Dr. Kevin Gillian of Virginia Heartburn & Hernia Institute.
